Abstract: Global Gan-Gross-Prasad conjectures are a series of conjectures relating automorphic periods of certain pairs of classical groups with special values of L-functions. In the case of unitary groups, Jacquet and Rallis proposed a relative trace formula approach to attack this problem. This is later used by Wei Zhang to prove this conjecture in the unitary case under some assumptions. In this talk, we explain the ideas and some details of the proof.
